What are the consignment terms?
All items will be placed on display for a period of 3 months. You, the consignor, will receive 50% of the selling price.
When do I get paid for my items?
You will be paid once a month. Checks are mailed out the first week of the month following the month of sale.
When and how much are items marked down?
After 30 days on consignment items may be marked down by 10 - 15%.
After 60 days on consignment another similar mark down may be taken.
If we agree to keep items beyond 90 days additional mark downs may be taken.
Do you pick-up or deliver furniture?
Yes, we can arrange pick-up or delivery of your furniture. The fees are $80 per hour, with a one hour minimum.
Do you offer onsite appraisal services?
Yes. In situations where providing photographs is not possible we do offer onsite appraisal services. There is a $50.00 cash fee for the services.
How do I know if Mainstreet Consignment can sell my furniture?
We have been in the furniture consignment business since 1988. Over 3000 people visit our 11,000 square foot showroom each month. Typically, a fine piece of furniture will sell within 30 days of placement in the showroom.
What happens in the event my items do not sell in the 90 day consignment period?
There are three options:
You can simply pick up the items.
We can help you donate them to a worthy charity.
We may consider extending the consignment period, but at a further discounted price.
When can I bring in items for consignment?
We accept items for consignment Monday through Friday during normal business hours. New consignments are accepted on Saturdays only before 12:00 noon. We are not able to accept new consignments on Sundays.
Do you charge any additional fees for consignment?
We do not charge to set up an account or to place items on consignment. However, items taken for consignment that require cleaning may be subject to a cleaning fee.
What if I decide to remove my items from consignment prior to completion of the 90 day agreement?
Items removed from consignment prior to completion of the 90 day agreement may be subject to a fee equal to 20% of the initial selling price.

We eagerly accept better quality home furnishings, artwork, lamps and accessories for consignment. The period for our furniture consignment in Minneapolis is 3 months. Typically items sell before the consignment period is over. Furniture usually sells in less than 4 weeks!
If an item has not sold within the 3 month period we will usually keep it until it has sold, provided the consignor agrees with our markdown process. After the item sells we will send the consignor 50% of the selling price. All checks are sent during the first week of the month following the month of sale.
We look for good quality items that have been gently used and well cared for. The better the quality and condition of the item, the sooner it will sell.
Used furniture in St Paul or Minneapolis that is outdated, soiled, stained, faded, scratched, damaged or in need of any repair cannot be accepted for consignment.
Items from homes where there is smoking cannot be accepted for consignment.

Please include your name and telephone number in your email.
If possible, please also bring in a sample such as a seat cushion, dining chair or drawer. All this will allow us to agree on the initial asking price.
It may not be possible to immediately accept your item, even though we have an 11,000 square foot showroom. Should this be the case we will contact you as soon as space is available for your used furniture in Minneapolis.
